The alleged members of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) kidnapped at least six farmers on Wednesday in Borno State's Mafa Local Government Area.
According to Zagazola Makama, a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad, the victims, who were largely internally displaced people (IDPs), vanished after going to their farm in Bulagarji village, which is some distance from Mafa town.
Family members of the victims, who verified the incident, claimed that the insurgents attacked the farmers on Wednesday morning.
In order to remain anonymous, one of the family claimed that the ISWAP gang was demanding a ransom of N5 million.
