‘Kidnapper,’ mechanic killed in Plateau
On Wednesday, two people—among them a suspected kidnapper—were killed in Plateau State's Jos North Local Government Area.

One Umar Abdullahi, a mechanic, was named as the second fatality.

According to reports, a gunfight broke out early on Wednesday in the NEPA neighbourhood near Zaria Road in the council region, killing the alleged kidnapper and the technician.

Residents claimed that Abdullahi and the gang engaged in a gunfight when a group of kidnappers attempted to kidnap him on Wednesday morning at his home.

Idris Ibrahim, a local, claimed: "The kidnappers attacked the mechanic's property around 2:00am, and Abdullahi shot one of the kidnappers dead in an effort to thwart the kidnapping.

“When the remaining kidnappers discovered that one of them was killed, they forced themselves into Umar’s house and killed him.”

Contacting DSP Alabo Alfred, the state police command's spokesperson, to inquire about the development was unsuccessful as of the time this report was being filled because he did not return calls or react to our correspondent's SMS.

However, it was learned that the kidnapper's body had been transported to the council area's Katako Police Divisional Headquarters.
