According to the Kaduna State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), 611 alleged drug traffickers were detained in the State between January and July.
This was revealed to reporters on Monday in Kaduna by Mr. Umar Adoro, the agency's commander in the state.
Out of the 611 suspects, 480 drug addicts, according to Adoro, had received counselling, rehabilitation, and social integration.
“131 were charged to court and we secured the conviction of 69 and 62 are still awaiting trial within the period under review.
”Within the period under review, the command also seized illicit drug which included Cannabis 3,893.189kg , Cocaine 1.309kg, Heroin 0.097kg ,Psychotropic 3,949.63kg, Methamphetamine 0.147kg and Tramadol 1,851.369kg .
“The total drug seized was 3,898,991.552kg within the period under review,” Adoro said.
In order to help the agency stop the influx and usage of hard drugs, he advised the public to stay alert to any strange movements of items in their neighbourhoods and to submit beneficial information to the organisation.
The commander also urged parents to keep a watchful eye on what their children were doing.
He informed the public that NDLEA was committed to keeping the use of illegal drugs in society to a minimal.
