The Federal Government has claimed that a lack of gas supply is to blame for its failure to meet the nation's projected goal of 5,000 megawatts of energy generation.
After the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, which was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja, the Minister of Power, Abubakar Aliyu, made the announcement. He told reporters that while the government had signed a formal contract with the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET) Plc, power generation had remained at around 4,000 megawatts due to the gas shortage.
He did, however, reassure that his ministry was working around the clock to rectify the issue and that the necessary supplies have now been located.
