During a phone chat with French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy claimed to have discussed "Russia's nuclear terrorism" at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in southern Ukraine.

Zelenskiy, writing on Twitter, provided no other information regarding their discussions regarding the plant, which Russia captured in March after invading Ukraine on February 24.

Following shelling near the facility, which Kyiv and Moscow attribute to one another, Zelenskiy asked the international community to defend it with "strength and decisiveness" on Monday.

“Continued dialogue with French President @EmmanuelMacron. Informed about the situation at the front, Russia’s nuclear terrorism at the ZNPP (Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant),” Zelenskiy wrote on Twitter.

“Thanked (him) for France’s tangible defense aid. Discussed macro-financial aid to Ukraine & food security challenges. We must increase sanctions on Russia.”
