Yahaya Bello doles out N15 million scholarship to young tennis champion
Sezuo Ize Azziza, a 12-year-old table tennis prodigy, has received a scholarship award of N15 million from Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

At the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) National Championship in Lagos in 2021, the beneficiary represented Kogi State.

Muhammed Onogwu, the governor's chief press secretary, made the announcement and added that the governor had promised the fatherless tennis player that money would be deposited into his beneficiary's account to pay for her education from secondary school to university.

The governor stated that Sezuo Ize Azziza's desire to pursue her studies in medicine and surgery at the university should not be hampered because of her family's financial situation because she was born into a less privileged home and lost her father when she was a very young child.

With her outstanding and recent performance at the competition where she represented the state, Azziza drew the governor's eye.

When he met Azziza and her family in his office in Lokoja, the governor was said to have been astounded by the youngster's intelligence. According to the CPS, the governor stressed that the youngster was not only talented in her extracurricular activities but also a brilliant teenager who needed to be given all the support necessary to enable her to realise her dreams.

Speaking on the situation, Kogi State's Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones, praised the governor for encouraging female child education and other initiatives to advance the state's educational system.
