On Wednesday, DSP Usman Ali, the officer in charge of the Magami Police Outstation in Gusau, was freed from his captors by Zamfara Governor Bello Matawalle.
This is stated in a statement made by Mr. Jamilu Birnin-Magaji, the governor's press secretary.
DSP Ali was kidnapped on August 12 on the Gusau-Dansadau road in Zamfara by alleged bandits.
However, the victim was freed by the governor thanks to the work of the state's task force on security, which handed him over to the governor in Gusau unharmed.
While welcoming the officer, Matawalle expressed his pleasure with the government's efforts to combat banditry and kidnapping in the region.
He congratulated the victim for regaining his freedom and prayed Allah to bring an end to the menace of banditry and other crimes.
Ali thanked the governor and all those who participated in securing his freedom from the bandits.
