Before the general elections in 2023, Nigerian singer-songwriter Folarin Falana, better known by his stage name Falz, claimed he wouldn't say which candidate he wanted to support.
In a recent interview with Arise TV, the 31-year-old lawyer and performer said this.
Falz, who was instrumental in the 2020 #EndSARS demonstrations, asserts that young people in Nigeria are irate and irritated and long for a new day.
He further declared that he would not support any candidate who had been a part of the corrupt system in the nation and urged Nigerians to put the quality of the candidate ahead of choosing a political party.
He said, “Anyone who is coming from this same system that has brought rot knows that I will not vote for them.”
He also said, “For me, I’m doing everything within my power to make sure many people participate in this election.
“I think what has worked against the most in past years is the apathy. And a lot of people have looked at politics like ‘I don’t really care.’”
