The Arewa Consultative Forum, the sociopolitical governing body of the Northern States, has applauded the Federal Government's stance on domestic airlines selling tickets in foreign currencies.

Chief Audu Ogbeh, the forum's chairman, delivered a remark in response to Aviation Minister Hon. Hadi Sirika's announcement that any airline found to be lacking will face sanctions.

Chairman Audu Ogbeh praised the firm action taken to discourage any domestic or international airline from conducting business in Nigeria using foreign money.

The ACF chairman claims that this undermines the value of the naira and will surely put Nigeria and its economy in danger.

Chief Audu Ogbeh argued that no airline would risk doing such a despicable thing in the majority of the world's nations and warned that any airline doing business in Nigeria using foreign currency is an enemy of the country.

Therefore, he urged the aviation ministry to quickly extend its tentacles in order to stop this threat. No airline that wishes any nation well should get involved in undermining that nation's economy by devaluing its currency, the man stated.

Even in smaller African countries, according to the former minister of agriculture, such callous economic investment was never permitted.

Chief Audu Ogbeh called on the CBN, Finance Ministry, and indeed the President to take stern measures in ensuring that whoever arrives our country must convert his/her corrency into Naira for whatever business transaction.

“Failure amounts to economic sabotage,” he said.
