Court Orders Remand Of Ice Prince In Ikoyi Prison

A magistrate court in Lagos' Ajah district has ordered Ice Prince Zamani's remand at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre for allegedly assaulting a police officer.

The 'Oleku' singer was arraigned in court on Friday by the Lagos State Police Command on a three-count charge of assault, obstructing a police officer from carrying out his statutory duties, and abduction.

The defendant pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him.

Magistrate Taiwo Oyaniyi later granted him bail in the amount of N500,000. He must also provide the court with two responsible sureties.

The magistrate ordered his remand and adjourned further proceedings in the case until September 7, pending when he meets the bail conditions.

Hundeyin, a police spokesperson, had previously revealed how and when the veteran rapper was arrested, saying, "At 3 a.m. today, Ice Prince was stopped for driving without license plates. He agreed to be driven to the police station. He then kidnapped the cop in his car, assaulted him, and threatened to throw him in the river. He has been arrested and will appear in court today."
