Graham Potter succeeds Thomas Tuchel as Chelsea's new head coach
Potter will take charge of the team immediately.

The Chelsea Football Club is excited to welcome Graham Potter as its new head coach. He joins us on a five-year deal and will bring the Club his innovative coaching style and forward-thinking style of play.

Potter, who began his coaching career in Sweden before taking his skills to the English game during the previous four seasons, is one of the most entertaining coaches in the game. The 47-year-old has a degree in a field other than sports and has used his expertise to create an approach that is collaborative and forward-thinking while generating exciting and successful football.

He demonstrated this while playing for Brighton & Hove Albion, as he led the team to its best-ever league finish last year. Along the way, he won plaudits for his successful style of play on the south coast and demonstrated versatility in tactics and formations to stay one step ahead of rivals.

Potter expressed his excitement and pride at the opportunity to represent Chelsea FC, a fantastic football club, upon his arrival at Stamford Bridge. I am really eager to work with Chelsea's new ownership group and am looking forward to getting to know the talented group of players. Together, we will create a group and culture that our incredible supporters will be proud of. I would also like to place my sincere thanks to Brighton & Hove Albion for allowing me this opportunity and in particular Tony Bloom and all the players, staff and supporters for their continued support during my time at the club.’

Todd Boehly, chairman, said: ‘We are thrilled to bring Graham to Chelsea. He is a proven coach and an innovator in the Premier League who fits our vision for the Club. Not only is he extremely talented on the pitch, he has skills and capabilities that extend beyond the pitch which will make Chelsea a more successful Club. He has had a major impact at his previous Clubs and we look forward to his positive impact at Chelsea. We look forward to supporting him, his coaching team and the squad in realising their full potential in the coming months and years.’

Behdad Eghbali and José E. Feliciano, co-controlling owners, said: ‘Graham is a football innovator and winner on the pitch and a leader off the pitch. He has deeply impressed us with his ideas and approach to football. We are thrilled to partner with Graham to build a winning team, one that embodies the culture of collaboration, innovation, teamwork, player development, and a commitment to excellence on and off the pitch. We are fortunate to have Graham and his team as our partners in that journey.’
