Three police officers in Ogun State Command were abducted by gunmen in broad daylight.

It was learned that the police officers were taken hostage on Thursday at Wasinmi in Ogun State's Ewekoro Local Government Area.

Investigations have shown that the abducted police officers travelled from Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos State, to Ogun State.

Before departing for their primary job, they allegedly underwent a proper booking at the Wasinmi police station.

According to a police source who spoke to newsmen, the cops, who were being led by Inspector Oladipo Olayemi, were kidnapped on the street at around 2:30 pm.

The report claimed that the commercial driver who transported the police narrowly avoided the kidnappers.

It was further gathered that the Divisional Police Officer in Ewekoro had led his men in search of the missing policemen.

Contacted, the Ogun State Police Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident.

Oyeyemi said, “People were kidnapped, but only one policeman is involved.“

Oyeyemi added that the police are on the kidnappers’ trail, assuring the victims would be rescued.

“We are on the trail of the kidnappers. Do you think we are going to keep quiet? We will get them and rescue the victims unhurt,” he said.

He added that men of the anti-kidnapping unit are on the kidnappers’ trail.
