Ramon 'Hushpuppi' Abbas has asked United States Judge Otis Wright to temper justice with mercy and sentence him to a shorter prison term before his sentencing on September 21, claiming that he had changed after excelling in cleaning activities.

Hushpuppi's record, which The MEDIA gathered as part of his memorandum opposing prosecutors' sentencing recommendations, demonstrated that he performed well and interacted well with other inmates. His report card for the Central Valley workshop for prisoners indicated that the Internet fraudster performed "very well" in attitude, work quality, dependability, and productivity between July 2021, when he enrolled, and November 2021, when he completed work.

Meanwhile, Hushpuppi revealed in court that he is in danger of being harmed by suspended Police officer Abba Kyari. He claimed that his role in the indictment of Mr Kyari, which led to the downfall of Nigeria's most-celebrated police officer, has put him in grave danger and that he will be unable to return to Nigeria after serving his sentence in the United States.

The pleas were outlined in a memorandum he submitted to Judge Otis Wright, who was seeking a downward review of the sentencing years sought by prosecutors after Mr Abbas pleaded guilty to multimillion-dollar fraud last year. On September 5, Louis Shapiro, an American defense attorney hired by Mr Abbas, filed the memorandum on his client's behalf.

"Once this case is resolved and Mr. Abbas is released, he will be unable to return to Nigeria. A death squad is run by Abubakar Kyari, a Nigerian politician and police commissioner," Mr Shapiro stated in his counter-request.

The government's investigation into the Juma case led to his indictment. Mr. Abbas hopes to relocate his family out of Nigeria once he is released from prison. Mr. Kiyari's supporters' looming threat, combined with intense media harassment, has forced his family to relocate to secret locations within Nigeria.
