Dr. Solomon Ita, a director for the Niger Delta Development Commission, was charged by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, or ICPC, yesterday with misappropriating N45 million.

The Abuja Metropolitan Management Council's (AMMC) Gabriel Nathaniel, a staff member in the accounts department, was also charged by the ICPC with allegedly diverting about N3 billion from his workplace.

They entered a plea of not guilty to the charge brought against them after being separately arraigned before Justice Zainab Abubakar of a Federal High Court in Abuja.

Ita, a director in the NDDC's Department of Community and Rural Development, was charged with four offences, whereas Nathaniel was charged with fourteen.

Ita was accused of diverting a portion of the funds paid for a contract given to a group called Radiant Women Association in the accusation brought by the ICPC through its attorney, Osuobeni Akponimsingha.

Ita was charged in count one with taking N22.4 million from Solomon Eyarebe & Ebikebina's Zenith Bank account via his First City Monument Bank, FCMB, account at some point in September 2018 or close to that date (account number: 0542393012).
