Ikeja Electric, the company responsible for distributing energy in a portion of Lagos State, will turn out the lights for 10 days straight starting on Tuesday, September 6, and ending on Monday, September 15, 2022, in Alimosho Local Government.
The Ikeja Disco announced on Sunday that it would be upgrading outdated panels at its Igando injection substation.
The corporation claims that the goal of replacing the panels is to "improve the quality and quantity of power" in the local government area's affected areas.
According to the statement released by the Disco yesterday, "We have chosen to replace obsolete panels at our Igando Injection Substation as part of our efforts to improve the quality and quantity of power delivery."
“This exercise will last for ten (10) days, from Tuesday, 6th to Monday, 15th September 2022.
Feeders affected are General Hospital, Obadore, Egan, Akesan, Igando-Ikotun, Agric Road and New Igando.”
“We appeal for your understanding during this period. Thank you for allowing us to serve you.”
Reacting to the statement, the Spokesman of Ikeja Electric, Mr Felix Ofulue, told newsmen that there will not be total darkness. When Vanguard sought to know how the old panels will be replaced without total blackout, he did not provide the answer as at the time of sending in this report.
