LASEMA: Lagos records 30 collapse buildings in 7 months
At least 30 collapsed structures were recorded in various occurrences that happened between January and July 2022 in Lagos State, according to a report released Tuesday by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, or LASEMA.

Just 24 hours after a seven-story building under construction collapsed on Oba Idowu Abiodun Oniru Road, Oniru Estate, in the state's Victoria Island area, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced the resignation of his Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako, on Monday. This was done to reduce the frequency of building collapses in the state.

The most recent information was revealed Tuesday by the agency's permanent secretary, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, and was found in a thorough record every occurrence that occurred within the time period under examination.

The Alimosho council district topped the list of occurrences among the 973 emergency instances that were documented throughout the metropolis, according to the data.

The number of recorded building collapse incidents was 24, including six partial collapses and one imminent collapse.

Additionally, January had the most reported emergency situations, while April had the fewest.

The number of events then decreased to 155 in February before increasing to 160 and 140 in May and July, respectively.

Out of the 20 recognised councils, Alimosho recorded the most cases with 145, and Badagry the least with just two emergency situations, along with respective LCDAs.

Additionally, 337 car crashes in total were reported throughout the time period under consideration.

Out of the total, the following were recorded: 303, 29, and 45 for the truck, fell tanker, and trailer.

During the time period under consideration, 103 occurrences of fire disasters were reported, along with 93 cases each of outbreak, truck, and vehicle catastrophes.
