Seun Sossa, 21, was arraigned in a Karu Upper Area Court in Abuja on Monday for allegedly belonging to a gang of thieves.
The defendant, who had no fixed address, was charged with being a member of a robbery gang.
He, on the other hand, denied committing the crime.
The prosecutor, Olarewaju Osho, told the court that the defendant was seen and arrested on September 21 at the "Nyanya Checkpoint" in Abuja.
He claimed the defendant was acting in a suspicious manner that would raise the suspicions of any reasonable person.
He claimed that during police interrogation, the defendant was unable to explain his source of income.
The judge, Ishaq Hassan, however, granted the defendant bail for N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Oct. 20 for a hearing.
