A church with roots in Nigeria called the Redeemed Christian Church of God has contributed GH¢11,500.00 to the building of Ghana's National Cathedral.
Samuel Kofi Annan Wilson, the Church's general secretary, gave the cash to Dr. Paul Opoku-Mensah, the National Cathedral Secretariat's executive director.
Mr. Wilson said the sum represented a seed, which is their quota because they are an integral component of the wellbeing of the country, at the donation event in Accra.
“Since we’re part of the nation, whatever the nation asks us to do, we have to participate.”
Meanwhile, some faith-based organisations have taken an exemplary step by donating to the tune of GH¢2.21 million towards the construction of the National Cathedral.
A document breaking down the contributions since 2018, indicates that the Church of Pentecost is topping the list with the sum of GH¢700,000.00
Through the Church of Pentecost Headquarters, the Church made its initial donation of GH¢200,000 in 2018. The Church of Pentecost made another donation in March 2022 for GC¢ 500,000. (General Headquarters).
The Action Chapel International is in second place with a contribution of GH¢ $300,000.
The Presbyterian Church of Ghana and the Southern Ghana Union of SDA are two more significant sponsors, each contributing GH¢200,000.
The initiative has received $100,000 contributions from the Methodist Church Ghana, Triumphant Baptist Church-Kwadaso, Christ Apostolic Church International, and the Breaking Yoke Ministry Church, respectively.
