Police arrest 44 suspects, recover 5 rifles in Adamawa
No fewer than 44 suspects have been detained by Adamawa State Police Command agents in connection with kidnapping, culpable homicide, rape, causing grievous bodily harm, house breaking, theft, and other crimes in the state.

Five AK-47 rifles, two live rounds of ammunition, a laptop, computer accessories, two jerry cans of Dozzy's engine oil, and five pistols were also found by the command.

Others include Keke Napep wheel screens, telephones, generators, televisions, and dangerous weapons like knives, cutlasses, and knives.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP. Sikiru Kayode Akande, said that during the week under review, the command's agents had arrested the suspects while parading them at the police headquarters in Yola yesterday.

In order to break up the criminal network that links kidnapping operations and other violent crimes, he claimed that police operatives from the Divisional Police Headquarters, Crack Squad, Special Rapid Respond Squad, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and Special Rapid Respond Squad would conduct tactical dawn raids on criminal hideouts.

Since the command has the authority to handle any situation or challenge, Akande issued a warning that it would not give any group of people a chance to disrupt the peace of the state.

He said that the state command was poised to fight crime for peace and stability, explaining that the command was not resting on its oars in combating crime.

“The command appreciates the government and good people of the state for the continued support they have been rendering and assured that all the suspects will be diligently prosecuted on completion of the investigation.

“The police will not relent in the manhunt of those suspects at large until they are apprehended and brought to book, and lam also appealing to the general public to furnish the police with relevant information,” he said.

Akande disclosed that the command has designed crime-fighting strategies to clear pathways for a smooth electoral process in 2023 and ensure public safety, public order and smooth electoral process in the countdown to the elections.

He charged all officers to boost the security of the public space towards guaranteeing a crime-free enabling environment for political campaigns.
