2022WWC: Canada boss labels Super Falcons as ‘tough opponent’
Bev Priestman, the head coach of the Canadian women's national team, has responded to the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup draw that placed her team in the same group as the Super Falcons of Nigeria.

On Saturday, the draw ceremony took place at the Tâmaki Makaurau in Auckland.

Co-hosts Australia and the Republic of Ireland were placed in Group B with the Olympic winners and the Super Falcons.

On July 21, 2023, the Canadians will play Nigeria in their opening match of the campaign at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium.

Priestman acknowledged that her squad would have a difficult time defeating the Super Falcons.

“They are not an easy team to play, out of that pot, they are probably the team you didn’t want,”Priestman said after the draw ceremony.

“I won’t be underestimating them. However, experience is on our side and well use that”, she said.

The Falcons were on tour of Canada six months ago, where they played two matches against the North Americans , losing one narrowly and drawing the other.
