Due to its current FIFA rating, Nigeria, the only African team and one of the few countries to have participated in every edition of the international competition, was placed in Pot 4 prior to the final draw (45).
The women's team led by Randy Waldrum placed fourth in this year's WAFCON and will need to improve on their recent performances to have a chance of moving on.
In what is considered an open group, Nigeria will do well to get off to a good start against the CONCACAF team before keeping dates with Australia and Ireland.
Nigeria’s last meeting with Australia in the World Cup was in 2015 which ended in a 3-3 draw.
