Two more locals were also killed by gunfire from the alleged bandits.
Three persons were killed in the incident, according to Plateau police spokesperson DSP Alabo Alfred, who also said that the specifics were still hazy.
Residents claim that the victims were slain when the shooters rode into the neighbourhood on motorcycles and began shooting randomly to frighten people away.
The villagers reported that the assailants, who broke into the village at around 8 p.m., also kidnapped five members of the village chief's family, including his two wives.
Shapi’i Sambo, a youth leader in Wase, said the gunmen also made away with a good number of motorcycles belonging to the people of the community.
The youth leader said: “The attackers came in their numbers and started shooting sporadically. They went straight to the traditional ruler’s house, killed him and abducted five members of his family. The also killed two other people before entering into the house of the village.”
