The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Ifeanyi Okowa, has been awarded the National Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON). President Muhammadu Buhari conferred the national honor on Okowa on Tuesday. Okowa received the award at the National Honors Ceremony at the International Convention Centre, Abuja International Convention Centre. (See Awards)

A total of 445 Nigerians received various national awards. The following: Justice Olukayode Ariwoola; Justice Ibrahim Tanko Mohamed; Dr. Ngozi Okonji iweala; Ms. Amina J. Mohammed; and Prof. Tijjani Muhammad-Bande will receive the highest award from the Grand Commander of the Niger (GCON) among the 447 awardees. In addition, Speaker of Parliament, Femi Gbajabiamila; Senate Vice President Sen. Age of Ovie Omo; Secretary to the Federal Government (SGF) Chief Mustafa; Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan; Speaking earlier, Jakub Dogara; Kudirat M. Kekere-Ekun; Judge Moussa Datijo Mohammed; Judge Monika Bolnaan and Donghan Mansem will receive the second highest award from the Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic (CFR).
