Chief of Army Staff Farouk Yahaya as part of his efforts to strengthen military-civil relations inaugurated a number of projects for the Doka community in Kaduna North Local Government Area, Kaduna State, on Saturday.
Six solar-powered boreholes are among the projects, which are being carried
out in Kaduna's Doka district in the wards of Maiburji, Gaji, Shaba, and
Liman.
Other examples include the refurbished exam room at Nurul Islam Academy, which
has 500 seats and desks, and the new chairs and desks given to Shehu Abdullahi
Primary School on Ogbomosho Road in Kaduna.
The initiatives, according to Mr Yahaya, who was represented by Victor Ezugwu,
the Commander of the Infantry Corps, were created to show the community's
support for the Army.
“In fact, it is on record that so many of your sons and daughters have contributed immensely to the development of not only the Nigerian Army, but the nation at large,” he said.
Mr Yahaya added that the Nigerian Army has taken deliberate steps to give back to society over the years as part of its corporate social responsibility.
He explained that the projects were among the several executed in various parts of the country by the Nigerian Army as their contribution to national development.
“I believe this project will serve the collective needs of the members of this community and its immediate environs,” he said.
Mr Yahaya, therefore, appealed to members of the community to see the project as a symbol of the friendship between them and the Nigerian Army.
He prayed that the intervention would foster peace, progress and prosperity to the community.
