The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has declared Joseph Nwobasi, a former leader of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, as their official candidate for the Ezza North/Ishielu federal constituency in the 2023 general election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was instructed by the court in a ruling by Justice Fatun Riman to recognise and publish the name of the plaintiff (Nwobasi) as the APGA candidate for the Ezza North/Ishielu federal seat.
The judge agreed with the plaintiff that Edwin Nwonu, the current representative for the district running on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform, is not an APGA member and cannot run in Nwobasi's place as the APGA candidate in the general election in 2023.
The APGA leadership, Nwonu, or their representatives are prohibited by the court from attempting to change the plaintiff's name to that of the party's candidate before to the election.
