Sani Mohammed, a chief superintendent of police and the DPO for the council region, was abducted together with a large number of other travellers while travelling to begin his duties.
From the Panbegua Division in the Kubau Local Government Area, he was transferred.
He was kidnapped after armed guys attacked his convoy.
Adamu Abdullahi, the officer's younger brother, informed newsmen on Thursday that the police had successfully secured the release of the officer.
Following his release on Wednesday, the DPO, according to Abdullahi, has been reunited with his family.
“He was freed by the police, and the police have done the needful, we are thankful to the Inspector General Police, the Police Commissioner in Kaduna and the command’s spokesperson, Muhammad Jalige.
“We are grateful to the journalists and the prayers from the public who show concern about the kidnap incident,” Abdullahi said.
Kaduna, in North-west Nigeria, is one of the states troubled by terrorism with various armed groups, called bandits by locals, killing and kidnapping residents of rural communities including security agents.
