The most inclusive, fair, and economical means to attain universal health coverage is usually recognised as primary healthcare. Additionally, it is essential for enhancing the capacity of health systems to withstand, respond to, and recover from shocks and crises.
As a result, the Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency has closely monitored the deployment of qualified health professionals to various health centres, and the Edo State Primary Health Care System has been appropriately reorganised to meet the standard of worldwide best practises.

Twenty (20) Primary Health Centers have had renovations in light of MEGA in social wellness, and three (3) PHCs have just undergone renovations with 31 (31) updated facilities fully equipped to guarantee rural residents have access to quality healthcare services throughout the State.

However, the Edo State Government has put health professionals through a number of training programmes to completely prepare them to carry out their responsibilities in order to attain the intended goal of "MEGA" in the reform of the state's health system.
In order to improve Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent, Elderly, Health, Plus Nutrition (RMNCAEH + N) Quality of Care (QoC) in the State, the Edo State Government recently trained health personnel on quality of care.
In the same vein, the Edo State Government, in partnership with the Challenge Initiatives (TCI), taught nurses and midwives on long-acting reversible contraceptives and adolescent and youth-friendly health services for Local Government Primary Health Centers and Secondary Health Facilities.
Participants went through a number of modules during the training, including those on medical eligibility and client assessment, infection control for long-acting reversible contraceptives, copper intrauterine device (Copper T 380A), postpartum intrauterine device, post-abortion intrauterine device, and contraceptive implants.
One of the instructors at the training, Dr. Bernard A, stated during his lecture that the goal of the training was to adequately equip health service providers with the necessary technical support for quality health service and to accurately render the full range of family planning services. The training was held from June 20–24, 2022, at the SOML Conference Hall, Hospital Management Board Complex in Benin City.
According to Dr. Bernard, the best way to deliver high-quality medical care is to accept the client's opinions and avoid letting personal beliefs or values interfere with doing so for reasons of religion or culture.
The present administration, headed by His Excellency, Governor Godwin Obaseki, has refurbished and reorganised health facilities across the state, to the benefit of numerous communities in Edo state.
