According to reports, Jacob Desmond, a survivor of the gunshot at the Lekki Tollgate on October 20, 2020, was detained this morning during the #EndSARS commemoration parade.
Jacob, a despatch rider who gathered with other Nigerian teenagers at the Lekki Tollgate on Thursday to commemorate the incident's second anniversary, sobbed as he described how fortunate he was to still be alive after being present when the gunfire began two years ago.
Jacob might be seen on camera recounting the events of October 20, 2020 as he was kneeling.
Two police officers arrived as he was speaking with journalists and requested him to follow them.
However, a Twitter user, who shared the video online said Jacob was arrested by the police officers.
“This is Jacob Desmond, a Dispatch rider who was just driving past the Lekki tollgate, when the memories of #LekkiMassacre struck. He stopped, remembered & cried, how he would have been amongst the dead, if not for God He was arrested by the police even while crying. #EndSARS”, he wrote.
