Gunmen abduct 13, shoot one in Niger community
In Maijaki village, Birnin Maza/Tashibo ward, Lapai Local Government Area, Niger State, armed individuals believed to be bandits invaded the community, kidnapped 13 people, and shot one of them.

The event happened early on Friday morning, at 1 am, when random gunfire woke up the residents who were still asleep.

A community source told Channels Television that the region is experiencing high levels of anxiety as a result of the incident and that security presence is urgently needed to maintain peace and stability.

According to reliable sources, the criminals are currently hiding out in the Kpashimi Forest where they use AK-47 rifles to carry out their terrible deeds against any targeted population.

Reports revealed that over 500 security operatives of Operation Sharan Daji including vigilantes have stormed the area for a manhunt to apprehend the criminals.

Efforts to speak with the Police Public Relations Officer of the Niger State Police Command and also Commissioner for Internal Security and Humanitarian Services for confirmation proved abortive.
