IGP approves Police training of 10,000 officers in ICT
Usman Baba, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), said Monday that the International Certification for Digital Literacy would be used to teach police officers (ICDL).

According to news sources, the ICDL is a global social enterprise whose goal is to raise the bar for digital competence in the workplace, classrooms, and society.

Speaking on Wednesday at the force's headquarters in Abuja, the IGP said the 10,000 recruits now receiving training at the various police colleges across the nation will be the first to receive the training.

The police chief added that one of his top priorities has been to teach police personnel in ICT and that the ICDL programme will adequately equip the officers in that field.

Earlier, the chairman of E-Tech complete solutions Ltd, ICDL’s local operating partner in Nigeria, Mr Adekoye Mustapha, said E-Tech represents ICDL in Nigeria and carries out activities such as; leads progression, account management, market support, technical support, ensuring ICDL quality standards, and growth of the ICDL brand in Nigeria, among others.

On his part, the ICDL foundation chief executive officer, Damien O’Sullivan said “ICDL certification is now available in over 100 countries across a network of more than 20,000 test centres, delivering over 70 million ICDL certification tests to more than 16 million people worldwide.
