IGP berates United States, other countries for issuing security alerts to Nigerians

Usman Alkali Baba, the Inspector-General of Police, has lambasted the United States and other countries for sending their citizens, security alerts over the weekend. According to the IGP, it was proper to alert the Police and avoid escalating the situation.

The IGP stated during the opening of a police station and barracks in Delta State, "How can you enter the country and say there is a security alert, you didn’t inform the Police, and you go around telling your people; don’t go to Abuja, return from Abuja."

"When you have information on security, it is proper to inform the Police and we will find a way to tackle it, instead of taking it to the public.”

Reassuring Nigerians of the safety of their lives and properties, the IGP remarked, "We are working in synergy with other security agencies to ensure the safety of residents."
