Dr. Ibrahim Kurami, a representative for the Bakori Local Government Area in the Katsina State House of Assembly, has passed away.
He was performing the lesser Hajj (Umrah) when he passed away in Saudi Arabia on Monday at around 2 a.m. (Nigerian time). He was also buried on Monday in Medina.
Ali Al-Baba, the head of the House Information Committee, verified the occurrence on Monday.
While Al-Baba, who represents the Katsina Constituency in the House, did not provide information regarding the circumstances surrounding Kurami's passing, he did state that after their current workshop in Kano, he and other legislators would pay a condolence visit to Kurami's hometown and the Bakori constituency.
The late politician was survived by two wives, 11 children, and three grandchildren, according to family sources.
Kurami was an APC lawmaker who also prevailed in the most recent primary to represent the constituency on the party's platform in the upcoming general election in 2023.
In a by-election held on October 31, 2020, Kurami was chosen to join the 34-member Katsina State House of Assembly in place of his deceased predecessor, Abdurrazak Ismail Tsiga.
Recall that on September 5, 2021, terrorists abducted Kurami's first wife and two sons; however, the family later got their freedom back.
