The Kogi State Government started distributing relief supplies to flood-affected local governments on Friday.

Among other things, the materials include tomato paste, red oil, beans, gari, rice, and vegetable oil.

Chief Victor Omofaiye, the commissioner for the environment, cautioned authorities against diverting the supplies while speaking to reporters after watching the distribution procedure.

He made a request for increased assistance from the Federal Government, businesses, and civic-minded people to lessen the victims' pain.

He states that further supplies of aid would also be provided in the upcoming days, emphasising that the recipients of the aid must be residents of Internally Displaced Camps.

The acting Executive Secretary of Kogi State Emergency Management Agency, Mr Margret Akuh, was also available to monitor the exercise.

The local governments are Lokoja, Kogi, Ajaokuta, Ibaji, Idah, Ofu, Igalamela-Odolu, Bassa Adavi and Omala.
