On Thursday, 35 persons were found guilty by a mobile court in Benin of "reckless" parking, dropping off passengers in approved locations, driving against traffic, and other moving violations.
All of the offenders, according to State Prosecution Counsel Ayo Aigbokhiade, were detained in the Benin capital.
Aigbokhiade added that they all admitted guilt to the crimes.
The offenders were mandated to pay a N25,000 fine apiece within two days by the presiding chief magistrate, Mutairu Oare.
One of them was compelled to pay N40,000 after being detained while loading passageways in King's Square.
Newsmen report that six other offenders were convicted in absentia.
Oare, however, cautioned and discharged two others, who pleaded not guilty and were able to prove their cases before the court.
Newsmen report that the fine attracts an additional N2,000 daily at the expiration of two days.
The chief magistrate said that the fine was in tune with the non-custodian sentencing of offenders.
