Nine people have been detained by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kaduna State Command, on suspicion of possessing illegal narcotics.
The suspects were detained between October 6 and October 16 in various locations throughout the state, according to the state commander, Mr Umar Adoro, who spoke to reporters on Tuesday in Kaduna.
Adoro claimed that one of the suspects was apprehended in Zaria with 15.5kg of Indian hemp and another was apprehended in Kaduna with 26kg of Indian hemp.
Other suspects, according to the commander, were detained in Kakau, Gonin Gora, Tashar Yari, and two other locations in the Plateau city of Jos.
He claimed that two of the suspects also had 192.2 grammes of methamphetamine and N300,000 in counterfeit Naira notes.
Adoro said a suspect was also apprehended on Oct 16, with 919 tablets of Tramadol weighing 400grams, 5,000 tablets of Diazepam weighing 900grams and 25,000 tablets of Exol-5 weighing 8.2kg.
The commander appealed to residents to provide timely information to the NDLEA to tackle the menace of drug trafficking in the state.
