NFF supremo urges club owners to rejig NPFL
Ibrahim Musa Gusau, the newly elected President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), emphasised the urgent need to establish a better-packaged, fruitful, and fulfilling Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), which will sow the seeds of a more advantageous football economy for all stakeholders.

Gusau revealed this to owners of clubs in the premier League and NFF stakeholders at a meeting yesterday.

The NPFL club owners, for their part, expressed their congratulations to the NFF president on his victory and promised to fully support the Board in whatever actions it decides to take to ensure that the Nigeria Professional Football League truly begins to live up to its moniker as a professional league in every sense.

They later identified a lack of sponsorship and insufficient funding, No TV broadcast or coverage, poor officiating, poor infrastructure and incompetent administrators as some of the problems plaguing the NPFL.

They also called on the NFF President to set up a small committee of football experts to look into the former League Management Committee (LMC) and the current Interim Management Committee (IMC) and come up with a functional governance structure to drive the NPFL for the good and development of football in Nigeria and for the benefit of all major football stakeholders.
