Osun election: Suspected vote traders granted bail

Four people who were charged with vote-trading before Justice Mathias Agboola of the Osun State High Court received bail.

During the state's July 16 governorship election, the accused were detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) agents.

The four suspects entered not guilty pleas to the two charges brought against them.

A motion for the accused' bail had been made orally by their attorney, but the defence attorney had objected.

Justice Agboola, however, granted the suspects bail with sureties totaling two million naira each after hearing arguments from both attorneys, including civil servants with at least grade level 13 status.

The case is adjourned to the 21st and 28th of next month.

At the end of the election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Peoples Democratic Party’s Ademola Adeleke winner over the incumbent, Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress.
