Alexandre Lacazette, a former colleague of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's at Chelsea, reportedly expressed disbelief upon learning of the striker's return to the Premier League.
Even though the 33-year-old had only joined the Catalan giants six months prior, he unexpectedly made his way back to England from Barcelona in the summer.
The international from Gabon believed that Chelsea would give him more playing time and that he still owed the Premier League something.
Aubameyang claims in an interview with BBC Sport that Lacazette sent him a message following his substitution.
When questioned if the message contained good luck, he replied, "No! He was already dismissive when he first heard the rumours, saying, "Nah. Really?’”
He then added that Lacazette was one of his favourite teammates.
“If I have to choose one, I think it’s Lacazette,” he said when asked.
“For sure, because in bad times he helped me a lot.”
