At a news conference jointly addressed by Imo, Agodo, and Egba Traditional Chiefs, the Chiefs announced the burial schedule.
The traditional burial ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 20, 2022, following the particular traditional rite that begins the burial programme on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, with a service of songs.
The Chiefs also stated that a special Fidau prayer will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022 and that a gratitude service will conclude the one-week-long burial programme on Sunday, October 22, 2022.
The Balogun of Agodo Egba, Chief Sikiru Amodu, urged the people of Agodo and all Egbas to turn out in force to bid the late monarch a hero's goodbye while speaking at the news conference.
Agodo Egba Chiefs, Imo Chiefs, and Baales in Egbaland were also present at the press conference, along with Chief Tunde Adesina, Odofin Imo, Chief Amodu, Are Itori Land, and Amona Baaroyin of Egba land.
A few months ago, some assailants killed the late Oba Olajide Olayinde Odetola, the Olu of Agodo Egba.
His untimely passing sparked occasional reactions from Egbas both at home and abroad, which prompted law enforcement agencies to intervene. This resulted in the arrest of some suspects who are currently being held at a detention facility.
