Dissatisfied Rivers State University final-year students staged a protest against the school administration over a newly implemented policy of "no school fees, no examination."

The final-year students began the examination on Monday, October 24, and those who were unable to pay their school fees were asked to leave the examination halls. Students were outraged by this and marched in large numbers on Tuesday, October 25, to protest the policy.

They carried placards and protested along the highway, urging the state government to intervene and reverse the policy.

One of the protesters revealed that he is unable to pay his fees because his father who is a pensioner has not been paid by the state government for months, and he has promised to sell his only plot of land in the village to pay the fees during his final year clearance.

He further called on the state government to support the students in their trying times.
