(Watch Buhari's Speech) According to President Muhammadu Buhari, the government cannot continue to establish higher institutions in Nigeria by itself. (Watch Buhari's Speech)

This was said by the (Watch Buhari's Speech) President during his statement on Friday during a joint session of the national assembly regarding the introduction of the 2023 budget plan. (Watch Buhari's Speech)

Buhari stated that the government will take additional steps to adequately fund education in Nigeria, making reference to the practice in some other climates. (Watch Buhari's Speech) 

Additionally, the President announced that oil subsidies would end in 2023.

The 2023 budget was 19.76 trillion dollars and was titled "Budget of Fiscal Sustainability and Transition."  (Watch Buhari's Speech) 

Here is a summary of each budget he has presented since taking office as president in 2015.  (Watch Buhari's Speech) 

A budget of N4.5 trillion was allocated in 2015; this amount increased to N6.06 trillion in 2016, N7.44 trillion in 2017, N9.12 trillion in 2018, N8.9 trillion in 2019, N10.33 trillion in 2020, N13.6 trillion in 2021, and N17.126 trillion in 2022. (Watch Buhari's Speech)
