Kate Raymond (PDP-Demsa Constituency) has been named the Deputy Majority Leader of the Adamawa State House of Assembly.
The appointment was made public on Monday during a plenary session in Yola by Speaker of the House Malam Aminu Iya-Abbas (PDP).
Iya-Abbas claimed that the selection was based on merit after taking into account her legislative record.
He urged the representative to focus her energies and work harder to pass laws that would benefit the public, especially her constituents who elected her to serve on their behalf.
Following the defection of the previous leader, Tukur Yetasure, to the New Nigeria Peoples Party, the Speaker also announced the elevation of the former Deputy Majority Leader, Japhet Kefas (PDP-Gombi constituency), to the position of House Leader.
Also, Hamidu Lekki (PDP-Yola North) was announced as the new Chairman House Committee on Finance, Appropriation and Budget, while Shuaibu Babas (PDP-Fufore Constituency) was also appointed Chairman House Committee on Health.
The speaker explained that all the appointments took immediate effect.
