Bayelsa Queens record first win in CAF Champions Women’s League

Bayelsa Queens FC defeated TP Mazembee of DR Congo in their second game of the ongoing CAF Women's Champions League, earning the necessary three points with two goals in the first half.

The Nigerian champions got off to a strong start in the encounter on Thursday at the Grand de Stade Marrakech, Morocco, scoring in the fourth minute.

Prior to Chinyere Igbomalu's second goal 21 minutes later, Ogoma Joseph gave Bayelsa Queens FC the early advantage from the penalty spot.

As the game ended in their favour, the Bayelsa defence did a good job of keeping the opposition at bay, giving them their first win in the tournament's history.

After losing 1-2 to Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa in the first group game, the Nigerian side will now face Wadi Degla FC of Egypt in their last group match on Sunday to berth at the semifinals of the tournament.
