Former Nigerian forward Daniel Amokachi claims that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) selected the incorrect players and recruited the incorrect coaches for the Super Eagles.
He made this statement following the Super Eagles' poor performance against Portugal in a friendly international game that they lost 4-0.
The former Everton player stated that the current Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro, should be given support wherever he needs it in an interview with Channels TV on Sunday.
Amokachi added that the team should be made up of members chosen by the coaches from within the community. He claimed that the team has had success with this in the past.
“The Portugal game shows that we don’t even deserve to be there (World Cup),” he said.
“There are two-three different angles that you have to look at, bringing in the right coach, bringing in the right players, and getting the right environment to play at.
“We always bring the wrong coaches to handle a country like Nigeria; we always bring the wrong players,” Amokachi said during a Channels Television show on Sunday.
