Micheal Peter, a 26-year-old man, appeared in a Magistrates' Court on Wednesday after being accused of stealing N250,000 from a neighbour.
Peter, a resident of Ali Akilu Road in Kaduna, was detained and accused of conspiring, stealing, and breaking and entering.
The defendant committed the offence on November 6 in Kaduna, according to testimony from the prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo.
He claimed that Peter conspired with two other individuals who were still at large to steal jewellery, clothing, and a generator from Julius Isaiah, his next-door neighbour.
According to him, the offence was against Articles 401, 271, and 308 of the Kaduna State Penal Code from 2017.
But the defendant entered a not guilty plea to all three counts.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, gave the defendant bail in the amount of N100,000 with two sureties in the same amount.
Emmanuel stated that the sureties must be residents and set the next hearing for January 11, 2023.
