Mbazulike Amechi, the first republic's minister of aviation, passed away at age 93.
After a brief illness, Mr. Amechi, who was from Amihe village in Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra, passed away on Tuesday, according to his family.
The senior statesman was the last surviving member of the pre-independence Zikist Movement.
The family’s statement signed by Ezeana Tagbo Amechi, his son, said, “Amechi, nationalist and First Republic Minister of Aviation, transited peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday, November 1, 2022. We thank God for the fulfilled life that he lived, the lives that he touched and his service to God and the country.”
The statement added, “We respectfully ask that you keep us in your thoughts and prayers at this time.’’
