NRC: Abuja-Kaduna railway shuttle not resuming soon
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has stated that the resumption date of train service between Abuja and Kaduna is still indefinite.

In March 2022, bandits ambushed the Kaduna-Abuja train, killing some passengers, injuring others, and kidnapping over 60 more.

This resulted in the temporary suspension of the Abuja-Kaduna train service.

However, a few days prior, social media posts indicated that train service would resume on November 24, 2022.

Fidet Okhiria, managing director of Nigeria Railway Service (NRC), clarified the corporation’s position on Monday and urged the public to reject such erroneous claims.

He claimed that the Federal Government is making urgent efforts to reinstate train service, but no timeframe has been determined.

He remarked,” I wish to inform the general public that the news is false because a definite date has not yet been fixed.”

According to him, “it’s true that the Minister announced that we will resume services on that route this November, and efforts are being made by all necessary quarters to ensure we resume before the end of November.”

In addition to confirming the government’s efforts and commitment to securing the lives and property of the respected passengers, the NRC’s managing director also promised that the appropriate measures would be taken before restarting.
