Due to Quadri Aruna of Nigeria's dismal recent results in international competitions, Aruna has slipped one spot in the most recent World Table Tennis rankings, which the organisation issued on Tuesday morning.
With an accumulation of 1745 points, the 34-year-old fell from 14th to 15th place in the world standings.
Aruna's bad showing at the WTT Cup finals in China and the WTT championship in Macao directly contributed to the decline. In each of the two-week events, Aruna lost in the opening round.
He is still the top-ranked African player in the world in the interim.
The top three athletes in the world are a Chinese trio consisting of Fan Zhendong, Ma Long, and Wang Chuqin. Tomokazu Harimoto of Japan and Truls Moregard of Sweden round out the top five.
Liang Jingkun of China, Brazil’s Hugo Calderano, Lin Yun-Ju of China, Germany’s Dimitrij Ovtcharov and Slovenia’s Darko Jorgic are in the world’s top 10 best players.
