Sadio Mane fails to recover from injury; ruled out of Qatar World Cup

According to various sources, Sadio Mane will not travel with the Senegalese team to the World Cup in Qatar because he was unable to fully recuperate from his persistent injury.

Mane won't be available for the entire tournament, contrary to what the Senegal Football Federation had previously said he would only miss the Teranga Lions' opening game.

The 30-year-old will not play for Senegal in Qatar, according to post from renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano, who also noted that the player's injury is not healing well enough for him to be ready for the biggest football showpiece.

To get Mane fit for the competition, Senegalese FIFA General Secretary, Fatma Samoura, had suggested that the country might deploy witch doctors to cure Mane’s injury.

Senegal is now expected to name a replacement for Mane before their opening game of the campaign against 2010 finalists, Netherlands on Monday at the Al Thumama Stadium.
