Bandits and Troops |
During a clearance operation at bandits' encampment in the Zamfara forest on Friday, Operation Forest Sanity troops killed eight bandits and freed four captives.
The camps, according to a statement from Musa Danmadami, Director of Defence Media Operations, are situated in the Gummi LGA of Zamfara's Dutse Uku and Danmarke villages.
According to Mr. Danmadami, while on patrol, the forces engaged the terrorists in a firefight, killing eight of them while the rest fled for cover while suffering gunshot wounds.
After the firefight, he claimed, the forces used the general area to their advantage and freed four captives.
He claims that among other items found were six AK-47 rifles, 40 rounds of special 7.62mm ammunition, six AK-47 magazines, and 32 motorcycles.
“The military high command commends troops of Operation Forest Sanity and encourages the general public to avail troops with credible and timely information on criminal activities,” he added.
